Modern Families

Fertility Fest

Balloons

A series of talks and performances that explore a progressive approach to sex education.

Fertility Fest has teamed up with Dr Carole Gilling-Smith (Medical Director of the Agora Fertility Centre) and Professors Joyce Harper and Jacky Boivin (Deputy Chairs of the Fertility Education Initiative) to work with a team of young people (aged 15-24) to develop a sex education programme that goes beyond the mechanics of reproduction and how ‘not’ to get pregnant.

Join us for:

  • Fertility Facts, the fertility cycle of men and women, how lifestyle factors affect fertility, how to get pregnant and how to prevent a pregnancy
  • How modern families are being made today – from same sex families, solo motherhood and co-parenting
  • Infertility and miscarriage – who it affects and how
  • Reproductive science – what it is, what it can and can’t do currently and what it might be able to do in the future

Duration: 3 hours

Free, drop-in event. No ticket required.

Key information

We want Fertility Fest to be as inclusive as possible and this means being sensitive to people with and without children. We are conscious that some people who are struggling to conceive or are involuntarily childless find it difficult to be around children. But we are equally conscious that there are people who have been on a long and complex journey to conceive who want to come to the festival and might not have childcare support. We don’t want anyone to feel excluded.

With this in mind, we therefore ask that if you would like to or need to bring children / babes in arms to the event or you find it particularly difficult to be around children then please contact us at [email protected] ahead for a chat about how to give you the best experience on the day and make sure we can positively address all people’s feelings and needs.
