About us
The Barbican is an international arts, conference and learning organisation in the heart of the City of London.
Across its theatres, concert halls, cinemas, galleries, business venues, public and community spaces, the Barbican showcases the most exciting artists and performers from around the world, pushing traditional artistic boundaries and helping us understand our lives in new and unexpected ways. Each year, the Centre presents hundreds of different performances, events and exhibitions that entertain and inspire millions of people, create connections, provoke debate, and reflect the world we live in.

Firmly rooted in its neighbourhood, the Barbican collaborates on projects with local communities, and supports young people and emerging talent to develop their artistic practice and access jobs in the creative industry.

We have two theatre spaces which play host to the finest international theatre, dance and performance by artists and companies who are challenging the idea of what theatre can be.

About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Supervisor (Stage and Flys) with an expertise in Stage and Flys operations to join our incredible Theatre team at the Barbican Centre. Working alongside the Technical Manager (Stage), the Technical Supervisor (Stage and Flys) will oversee the general management of the technical functions across the theatre spaces and will be responsible for supervising and motivating the Technicians, Casual and Freelance staff to ensure the smooth running of award-winning shows and events.

You will have the experience of working in the theatre industry, and a thorough understanding of all the creative processes of delivering technical productions, along with competence in responding to the unpredictable and sometimes highly pressured demands of staging in an artistic environment. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and industrial practices is also crucial.

The successful applicant will be an effective team player, quick thinking with a positive can-do attitude. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to problem solve and have a flexible approach to your work.
