The Role

The Music department is seeking a well-organised and self-motivated Programme Coordinator (Classical) to work with the Classical Programmer and Head of Music on the  Barbican’s world-leading programme. The post holder will coordinate all aspects of the Classical programme’s administration, from contracts to event set-ups, press information to monitoring sales in line with the Barbican’s mission and values. We are committed to creating a music programme that is ambitious, inclusive, enterprising, distinctive, relevant and one that offers our artists opportunities for creative development.

Working closely with the Classical Programmer and Head of Music, the Programme Coordinator will administrate the planning, budgeting, contracting, marketing and delivery of the Classical Music Programme, ensuring a timely and accurate supply of information to all relevant parties, both internal and external. You will feed into the development of efficient internal procedures using Sharepoint and Artifax, monitor and update sales and budgets, arrange artist fee payments and become an essential part of the vibrant Music programming team.
 

Essential requirements:

 

  • Excellent knowledge of and interest in music and the arts, and in particular classical music.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Good levels of administrative and IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Teams. 
  • Experience of working in an artistic environment, preferably a venue in an administrative function.
  • Experience of working on contracts.
  • Preferably experience or a willingness to learn about the Artifax and Spektrix platforms.

 

You must be able to demonstrate:

 

  • A collaborative approach, with an awareness of the classical music ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently in a multi-task environment as well as part of a dynamic and supportive team is essential, as is an independent, flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain a calm, ordered approach.
