Don’t miss the London debut of the National Open Youth Orchestra, a pioneering inclusive youth orchestra.

Over twenty of the UK’s most talented young disabled and non-disabled musicians will take to the stage to play exciting new music. Commissions have been written for a wide range of instruments, both traditional and electronic, including the Clarion, which can be played with the movement of a musician’s eyes. 

Marrying the familiar and the unknown, the afternoon’s music will be a joyful celebration of diversity as a creative force that can push the boundaries of classical and contemporary music in exciting new directions.

Cancellation

In light of the Government’s latest advice on coronavirus (Covid-19), it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the National Open Youth Orchestra’s debut London concert. We believe that this is the right course of action to ensure that everyone is safe and minimise risk for performers, families and friends travelling to London from around the UK. We will aim to reschedule this important event at a later date.

About the National Open Youth Orchestra

Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning are proud lead partners of the London centre for the orchestra, promoting musical excellence and empowering musicians aged 11-25 to rehearse and perform together as members of a ground-breaking ensemble. There are three other National Open Youth Orchestra Centres, in Bristol, Bournemouth and Birmingham, running in partnership with Bristol Music Trust's National Centre for Inclusive Excellence, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Town Hall Symphony Hall, Services For Education and Midlands Arts Centre.
