The Most Precious of Cargoes (12A) (AD)

Animated still of a woman and child in a winter landscape.

An animated drama about a grieving woman discovers an abandoned baby and hopes to raise it with her reluctant woodcutter husband in a time of war.

This moving film, directed by Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist, winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture) and with a screenplay by Jean-Claude Grumberg (author of the 2019 novel of the same name) and Hazanavicius, is about finding hope amongst the atrocities of the Holocaust

The vocal performance by legendary actor Jean-Louis Trintignant (The Conformist) proved to be his final film role. It premiered at Cannes Film Festival and competed for the Palme d'Or, becoming the first animated feature to be screened in the main competition since Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir (2008).

In French with English subtitles.
