Restless (15)

A dishevelled middle aged woman argues with a young, aggressive man

Jed Hart's debut psycho-thriller sees a withdrawn care worker who has her world turned upside down after a hard partying neighbour moves in next door.

Nicky (Lyndsey Marshal) is driven rapidly towards insomniac madness after the hedonistic Deano (Aston McAuley) moves into her dead parents home. His relentless partying and menacing character trigger something within her, propelling her to unhinged criminality and shaking of her shrinking existence.

With a powerhouse performance from Marshal, we find that this social drama becomes a domestic terror, and eventually emerges with a joyful feminism, with moments of dark humour sprinkled in for good measure.

The first feature from Jed Hart, whose previous short Candy Floss starred Barry Keoghan and was nominated for Best Short at BFI London Film Festival.
