Rebel Radio

Revisit the radical history of radio’s rebels and see how the legacy of pirate radio continues to inspire today in this month-long celebration with live broadcasts, film screenings, talks, and more.
Pirate radio was a movement. A rebellious force that gave Black British music and underground sounds a platform when mainstream stations wouldn’t. It shaped UK culture then, and its influence continues today.
Rebel Radio will run across June with the full programme to be announced in April.
• Weekly live broadcasts from Reprezent Radio in a pop-up studio and Sound System installations
• Gaps in the Dial podcast series by DJ and radio producer Tayo Popoola
• Workshops exploring how emerging creators can reinvent radio for the digital age
• Sunday Selecta listening sessions
• Pirate radio club night
• Them Ones Presents a talks programme curated by Tobi Kyeremateng with pioneers of pirate radio
• Cinema screenings
Rebel Radio is both a tribute to its past and a celebration of where sound is heading next.
