Studio Ghibli on the big screen is an absolute must for cinephile families – and why not come along before the film and try your hand at some themed Origami?
An instant classic from filmmaking legend Hayao MIyazaki, the film explores the life of a young girl Chihiro who wanders into a supernatural world where witches rule and those who disobey are turned into animals. She must use all her wits to survive in this strange new place and return to the normal world.
We're delighted to welcome Toshiko Kurata, Origami artist and teacher who will be leading a workshop before the film showing us how to make our very own Kaonashi 'No Face' origami. This will be held in the Cinema Cafe, 9:30-11am.
For more information on Toshiko and her work, please visit her Instagram page, @origamihappywonderland.

Please note: This screening is for families to attend as a group. Adults (over 18s) can only enter auditorium if they are bringing a child. Children (under 18s) can only attend if accompanied by an adult.
Toshiko Kurata is a member of British Origami Society and founder of Happy Origami Wonderland. She teaches origami to adults and children through her own workshops as well as teaching in schools and private events, also working with Samuel Tsang's Mindful Origami company. Her recent origami artwork "Hana no Oto - Sound of Flowers" was displayed at the exhibition called "Spirit of Invention" at The National Archives in London and Discovery Museum in Newcastle.
For our youngest film fans in the audience who may not be familiar with a cinema space - the lights in the auditorium will dimly lit during the film and the film sound will be kept on the low side. Babes in arms of 18months and under can be brought in on adults’ laps, but children over 18months need a seat purchased for them.
This screening will allow movement/noise from young film fans, but please be mindful of other audience’s experience (and please switch off phones!) If your little one needs a break from the screening, please note we do have a selection of books, games and toys in the cinema foyer for you to use.
The Family Film Club programme aims to screen films from a range of countries, styles and times, introducing a young audience to historical/archive content as well as the latest new releases.
