Belinda Zhawi & Duncan Bellamy

BZDB with Manchester Collective

Duncan Bellamy and Belinda Zhawi

The premiere performance of a new project of sonic poetry, Jump Ship, Sit Lean, Be Still, Stand Tall sets Belinda Zhawi's illuminating words in dialogue with Duncan Bellamy's explorative sounds.

Joined on stage by musicians from Manchester Collective, they render these disparate forms into distinct, melancholic and luminous sounds, with contemporary classical arrangements and intimate layered vocal experiments.

Belinda Zhawi (MA.MOYO) is a literary and sound artist whose work explores African diaspora research and narratives, and how art and education can be used as intersectional tools.

Duncan Bellamy is a multi-disciplinary artist and founding member of the Mercury Prize nominated Portico Quartet.

Manchester Collective are a shape-shifting ensemble known for their ground breaking performances of contemporary and classical music.

The end time for this performance will be added nearer to the date.

This performance may contain haze and strobe.
