Join us for a talk by renowned photographer Pablo Bartholomew, artist featured in The Imaginary Institution of India: Art 1975-1998.
Bartholomew discusses his iconic black-and-white photographs from the 1970s, touching on the influence of hippy counterculture as backpackers from the UK and Europe made their way to India. In parallel, he also dissects the vibrant cultural scene of art, theatre, and film in three cities at this time: Delhi, Bombay (Mumbai), and Calcutta (Kolkata).
This is the first of two talks delivered by the artist at the Barbican, and isjointlysupported by the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi.
