Whitecross Street Party
The Whitecross Street Party (WXSP) uses street art and performance to bring people together. Instigated by a local street artist in 2010, our vision is a Whitecross Street where
everyone feels connected. WXSP is distinguished by its grassroots and community spirit which brings together local and national partners to animate the weekend across multiple locations and stages. Active outreach to marginalised communities is a cornerstone of the programming. WXSP honours the roots of the graffiti and street art movement, believing that everyone should have space to express themselves and celebrate their identities.
Whitecross Street Party is supported through Community Infrastructure Levy funding from Islington Council as a thank you from the ward councillors to the community for putting up with the disturbance of construction in their streets.
YMCA London City and North are delighted to host the party for the sixth time. The charity is located at LandAid House in Errol Street, just off Whitecross Street. Our new state-of-the-art building is called home by 146 young people who have recently been homeless. Our aim is that they can create a future of their choosing. Some of those young people will feature at the event Words Stage while others will steward the party.
