More Than One Story + ScreenTalk with Director Chris Sonnex and Malorie Blackman (12A*)
Cardboard Citizens
More Than One Story is a series of nine monologue films exploring the multiple realities of homelessness. Join us for the first public screening and a panel discussion with author Malorie Blackman.
For over 30 years, Cardboard Citizens has created life-affirming theatre with people experiencing homelessness, poverty and inequity. More people than ever before are facing homelessness in the UK. Each of their stories is different.
Written and performed by 18 artists, each with their own lived experience of homelessness, poverty or inequity, More than One Story aims to disrupt stereotypes, generalisations and misconceptions around homelessness in the UK today.
After the screening there will be a panel discussion hosted by Debbie Hannan, Cardboard Citizens Associate Artist with author and Cardboard Citizens Ambassador Malorie Blackman, Cardboard Citizens Artistic Director Chris Sonnex, actor and Cardboard Citizens Member Shahab Awad, More Than One Story writer Kayleigh Llewellyn and Big Issue Ambassador Sabrina Cohen-Hatton.
This film contains:
• Use of strong language
• Discussion and depiction of homelessness, poverty and inequity
• Themes of racism, transphobia, abuse, violence, grief and mental illness
This film will have open captions and is a chilled screening to accommodate noise and movement in the cinema and re-entry for anyone who may need a break during the film.
Approx running time: 57 mins.
More Than One Story is a co-production with Black Apron Entertainment and presented in partnership with The Big Issue. It is generously supported by the Linbury Trust, Arts Council England and the John Ellerman Foundation.
