Between the Temples (15) (AD)

A man and a woman sit in a bar, and cheers each other.

Jason Schwartzman's world is turned upside down when his grade school music teacher (Carol Kane) re-enters his life as his new adult Bat Mitzvah student.

This unorthodox screwball comedy stars Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane as unlikely friends, bonded over their search for a reason why.

Ben (Schwartzman) is lost - he's not doing well at work (a job he has mainly due to his parents' help), he doesn't have a partner, and he's questioning his faith. When he bumps into his old music teacher, an opportunity arises for both of them.

Despite our increasing access to technology in the modern world, faith and community feel weaker than ever before. Between the Temples is an emotional and hilarious delve into the risks of having neither; and why it's so important to have both.

Premiering at Sundance and then Berlin, Between the Temples was written and directed by Nathan Silver, known for his indie black comedies.
