Anouar Brahem Quartet

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

Anouar Brahem Quartet stand with their instruments, smiling to camera

As the leader of this lively and creative quartet, Anouar Brahem takes a fresh look at his musical universe, taking the traditions of Arab music in contrast to modern jazz.

For almost forty years Anouar Brahem has been placing the traditions of Arab music, with the superb finesse of his oud (middle eastern lute), in different situations, where he contrasts it to modern jazz and other ancient cultural traditions.

Today, he can draw on the experience he has gathered over the years in his concerts with other musicians. For this project, he draws on his experience and returns to his roots with a repertoire that combines several of the quartet's usual themes taken from older albums such as Conte de l'incroyable amour, Madar, Thimar & Astrakan Café.

As leader of this quartet, more lively and creative than ever, Anouar Brahem is now casting a fresh look at his musical universe and in doing so, opening up some original horizons for it.
