Ranging from traditional to Americana and using new instrumentation, contemporary folk music has become more diverse than ever before.
From across the pond and nearer: Brooklyn-based Gabriel Kahane, Irish-born Glen Hansard, singer-songwriter Josephine Foster from Colorado, indie-folk duo The Milk Carton Kids from Eagle Rock, Illinois-born Andrew Bird and American country-folk and blues singer Lucinda Williams come together for a series showcasing the diversity of folk music and how its roots in the 20th century have been adapted by artists for a more contemporary setting.
