Barbican Music Box Showcase

with Native Instruments

Barbican box participant

School groups from across London present music made in collaboration with audio software pioneers Native Instruments, inspired by our 2019 season, Life Rewired.

The Barbican Box is, literally, a portable box that contains different sounds and objects to encourage an imaginative approach to making music. To coincide with our annual season, Life Rewired, the box has been curated by Native Instruments, an organisation at the cutting edge of developments in technology and music production. Over two terms the students will work with Native Instruments, as well as musicians from the grime scene to compose new pieces made with and inspired by technology – specifically considering how this technology is, has and will affect their everyday lives.

This performance will begin promptly at the advertised start time and is expected to finish by 9pm (subject to change)

Watch: Barbican Box Music with Max Richter

Curated this year by Max Richter, who has worked directly with mentors and the young musicians themselves, students from east London used the Box to explore the idea of ‘reflections on yourself’.
