Dream Babes: Speculation and Fantasy as Resistance
New Suns: A Feminist Literary Festival
This is a free event, no booking is required. Admittance will be on first come, first served basis.
A round table discussion with readings exploring speculative fiction as a strategy for social change.
The Dream Babes project explores science and speculative fiction as a strategy of queer resistance, imaging futurity that does not depend on existing historical and social infrastructure. Speculation and fantasy is taken as a method to rewrite patriarchal and colonial narratives to imagine better futures, to more accurately describe the present, and to ask: what if things carry on as they are without serious change?
The panel includes multidisciplinary performance artist Victoria Sin, Danielle Brathwaite Shirley and Irene Tokini Fubara.
