mother! (18)

Trailer for Mother!

Living a life of tranquillity, a couple’s relationship is put to the test when uninvited guests arrive at their home.

Situated in a colossal house in the middle of nowhere, a married couple, who are only referred to in the film as ‘Mother’ and the ‘Poet’ (Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem) live their seemingly perfect life together. Lawrence is renovating the home after a serious fire whilst her husband, an author of poetry, is trying to work through his writers block.

The lives of the couple are suddenly interrupted when a strange man knocks on their door, who claims he thought the house was a bed and breakfast. Much to Lawrence’s disapproval, Bardem invites the man to stay, in the hope that his company will bring some inspiration to him. The next morning the man’s equally strange wife arrives at the house. As more and more unexpected guests start to appear with no explanation, things soon spiral out of control.

A psychological thriller from director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream)

Featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer.
