BBC Radio 3 Open Ear / An Assembly, You are Wolf & Serge Vuille

Photo of Kerry Andrew

Open Ear presents music from the leading edge of the UK’s contemporary scene. Alternative, experimental and hosted in-the-round by Sara Mohr-Pietsch.

Switching between separate stages in LSO St Luke’s, hear music from the rich and varied sound-worlds of contemporary classical, folk and experimental music.

A member of two LSO composer schemes, Jack Sheen is the curator and co-director of experimental music series ddmmyy. His ensemble An Assembly presents the UK premiere of Linda Catlin Smith’s contemporary exploration of the baroque dance form, Sarabande alongside an excerpt from James Weeks’ work on 17th Century realist Dutch paintings, Schilderkonst.

We also delve into the avant-folk of You are Wolf (aka Kerry Andrew) as she fuses traditional material with the stylings of contemporary classical and leftfield pop, before hearing from experimental Swiss percussionist Serge Vuille.
