About the role
The Audience Experience Department areas of operation include Venue and Foyers Management, Box Office, Access and Licensing and ownership of the foyers experience.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Venue Manager to join our Operations Management team who are responsible for delivering an outstanding audience experience across all performance venues in the Barbican and beyond.
Working on an events-based rota, you will be an integral part of the team that ensures the delivery of an excellent audience experience in a safe environment for the many varied audiences the Barbican welcomes through its doors. You will support our Venue Managers to drive the vision for each venue, in particular the customer experience as delivered by the host team as well as delivering sales targets. The Barbican venues that you would support include our Concert Hall, Theatre, Cinema, Foyers as well as offsite events.
As an organised, efficient and proactive individual with demonstrable supervisory experience within a customer service and sales environment, you will excel under front line pressure. With your positive and flexible approach, you will enjoy a fast-paced, busy and exciting environment where teamwork is the key to success. You will need to have experience of large-scale audience management, and knowledge of fire systems and experience of implementing evacuations as you will be a key player in the delivery of the Barbican’s fire management procedures.
