Skate Kitchen (15)

Skate Kitchen

Crystal Moselle's new film introduces the all-girl skate crew who rocked Sundance Film Festival this year.

Introverted 18-year-old skateboarder Camille lives on Long Island with her mother. Though, to her mother’s relief, Camille promises to hang up her board following an injury, the pull to skate proves too strong.

She discovers an all-girl subculture of skaters called The Skate Kitchen on Instagram, and she sets out into the city to join them. The rebellious and sexually fluid girls quickly adopt the more naive Camille, featuring her in their stunt videos.

For the first time, she feels acceptance and support from other girls. However, she soon learns to her cost, the complexity of their friendship when she befriends a boy from a rival group of skaters.

The film stars members of a real-life all-girl skate crew based in New York: Rachelle Vinberg as Camille, along with Kabrina Adams, Nina Moran, Ardelia Lovelace, Jules Lorenzo and Brenn Lorenzo
