Legendary singer and activist Peggy Seeger joins critic and writer Robin Denselow in conversation about her life and music.
Peggy Seeger, a member of the North American musical Seeger family, is a singer of traditional Anglo-American songs and activist songmaker. She plays six instruments: piano, guitar, 5-string banjo, Appalachian dulcimer, autoharp and English concertina. She lived in England for 35 years with the singer/songmaker Ewan MacColl and has three children and nine grandchildren. She moved back to the USA in 1994 but returned to England in 2010.
Robin Denselow, The Guardian's world critic, is a journalist and broadcaster who specialises in both music and politics. He has travelled widely, especially in Africa, reporting for BBC Newsnight and radio programmes, and is the author of When The Music's Over, a history of political pop.
The paperback edition of Peggy’s award-winning memoir (First Time Ever: A Memoir) is published on 6 September 2018.
