Three luxurious works – a ballet, opera and symphonic rhapsody – showing the many sides of Ravel, but each inspired by his love of Spanish culture.
An authority on Ravel, François-Xavier Roth transports you to the Basque country of the composer’s childhood, with three works that fuse luscious orchestration and lilting Spanish rhythms.
Melodies weave delicately through Ravel’s early Rapsodie espagnole, punctuated by fanfares and Habanera rhythms. Ravel's fascination with Spain can also be heard in the one-act opera L’Heure espagnole, a romantic intrigue set in 18th-century Spain, and Boléro, where the insistent marching drums that accompany the delicate opening flute solo make it one of classical music’s most familiar masterpieces.
Change of Soloists
The performance of Ravel’s L’heure espagnole will now feature soloists Edgaras Montvidas as Gonzalves and Nicolas Cavallier as Gomez, replacing Stanislas de Barbeyrac and Nicolas Courjal respectively.

Mobility
Spaces for wheelchair users in row U at the rear of the stalls (up to sixteen, depth of row 180cm) and the back row of the circle (four), both with fold-down companion seats. Some seats in row S of the stalls for people with very limited mobility.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs may be taken into the concert hall where there are a limited number of suitable seats in row G of the stalls. If you prefer, you may leave your dog with a member of the cloakroom staff during the performance.
Hearing facility
There is an induction loop in the concert hall. You can use this by adjusting your hearing aid to the ‘T’ setting.
