Relaxed Families: The Flight of Dragons (U) + Draw Along with illustrator, Rikin Parekh

Family Film Club

Two colourful dragons pop their heads over rocks in a mountainous landscape.

Our first screening of 2025 will be a specially tailored Relaxed experience, with a rarely seen 1980s animation and a draw along from the wonderful illustrator Rikkin Parekh.

Come along and experience The Flight of Dragons on the big screen! This oft-overlooked film from US director duo Rankin & Bass is a beautiful hand drawn story of wizards and magic, and features the voice talent of James Earl Jones in a dastardly performance that rivals his work as Darth Vader!

A young board game enthusiast, Peter Dickinson, is transported from his life in present day to a magical realm of elemental wizards, knights, princesses, forest outlaws and dragons. Once there, he must join a quest to retrieve the Red Wizard Ommadon’s crown before humankind is destroyed. Along the way, he falls in love with the beautiful Princess Melisande and discovers a strength that he never knew he had.

This is a lush medieval styled fantasy-drama, based on a story by Gordon R. Dickson.

Catch it on the big screen while you can!
