About the role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to become our Internal Communications Officer, supporting the development and delivery of our internal communications strategy. Reporting to the Internal Communications Manager, it will be your role to deliver innovative, high-quality, relevant, inclusive and engaging communications for all those who work on behalf of the Barbican, including our permanent employees, members of our team of casual staff, and those working for our on-site service delivery partners.

You will play a crucial role in supporting and enabling the Barbican’s ongoing transformation programmes – including our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work to make the Barbican a welcoming place for all, and the exciting Barbican Renewal Programme which will see transform our iconic building over the coming years.

You will have direct responsibility for building, maintaining and improving a range of communications channels, to enable better communication with and collaboration between staff. You’ll develop compelling narratives and source stories from across the organisation to generate content that drives engagement and ensures people understand and commit to the organisation’s objectives. And you will develop ways to ensure staff voices are empowered and platformed.

Our ideal candidate will be a dynamic and committed team player, and a confident and diplomatic communicator. Experience of internal comms in organisations undergoing change would be an advantage – we are looking for someone who can set a high standard in creating an inclusive culture; by using internal communications to build connection, belonging and voice across teams, professions, perspectives and identities.
