The Wonder of Nature in Ghibli

Live Podcast

The Wonder of Ghibli

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Recorded live to coincide with the RSC’s stage adaptation of My Neighbour Totoro in the Barbican Theatre, this episode celebrates how Studio Ghibli portrays the wonder of nature and how this can open conversations around environmentalism and sustainability.

Does animation help or hinder our ability to appreciate the natural world? Can animation be a more sustainable alternative to live-action filmmaking and still drive positive change?

Dr. Christopher Holliday is a lecturer in animation at King’s College London. Dr. Alexander Sergeant is a historian of fantasy fiction at the University of Portsmouth. Together, they are the co-hosts of the popular Fantasy/Animation podcast. Join them live for a fascinating conversation about how animation can help us save the planet, and hear their top 10 'moments' of Ghibli wonder.
