Artists Bios
Soheila Sokhanvari is a British-Iranian artist, whose multimedia practice explores contemporary political landscapes with a focus on pre-revolutionary Iran.
Tobi Alexandra Falade is a curatorial trainee at Barbican and iniva where she supports the curatorial department on exhibitions including Shilpa Gupta: Sun at Night, Soheila Sokhanvari: Rebel Rebel and Alice Neel: Hot Off The Griddle. She is also co-founder of Platform Black, a community highlighting the work of black creatives, and is a visual artist.
Young Poets Bios
Christy Ku
Christy Ku is a poet, performer and workshop facilitator. She has worked with organisations including the BBC, Sky Arts, Museum of London, Apples & Snakes and the Barbican on projects such as poetry films, spoken word tracks and theatre shows.
She was recently featured on BAFTA award winning show ‘Life and Rhymes’. Christy is an alumna of the Barbican Young Poets, National Youth Theatre and New Earth Actors Academy, and is a BBC 1Xtra’s Words First 2019 winner. Christy has been published in numerous anthologies with publishers including PanMacmillan, Own It! Publishing, and Magma Poetry. Christy founded BESEA Poets, a platform for British based East and South-East Asian poets. She is also the co-host and editor of the TeaTotal podcast.
Christy is currently working on her debut poetry pamphlet. She was once rejected from having a poem baked onto 200 loaves of bread.
Corey P.
Corey.P. is a poet, actor and facilitator. Corey’s poetry has been commissioned and/or published by the likes of The BBC, The National Theatre, National Youth Theatre, Lyrix Organix and Barbican Centre.
As an actor, his most recent roles have been Anthony, one of the principal roles in Alexander Zeldin’s Faith, Hope and Charity at The National Theatre, and Philford in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe.
He’s the reigning champion of the National Youth Theatre Spoken Word Competition, he was the only poet selected for the ‘Stars Over The Forest’ event at the 2018 Hightide Festival and he’s the voice of ‘Flip’ on BBC Radio 4. He’s also an alumni of Barbican Young Poets, BBC Words First and The Roundhouse Poetry Collective.
He's on track to releasing his debut poetry pamphlet very soon. Watch this space.
Poppy Medenis
Poppy Medenis, the centre of her interest is how to make art more accessible, she is currently exploring whether a poem needs to be written down - can it exist in the spoken word, conversation, or song? Poppy is most inspired by the poets that haven’t been named as so, and her purpose is to encourage people to celebrate and tap into their voice, using the arts to bring people together in community of loving kindness.

Rachel Cleverly
Rachel Cleverly is a poet and producer. She is a Barbican Young Poet, an Old Vic Theatre Maker and an alumnus of Apples and Snake's 'The Writing Room' and BBC Words First.
Rachel has an MA in Creative Writing from UEA, and has been published by The North, Poetry Wales, SPAM, The Feminist Library, Ink, Sweat & Tears and flipped eye press among others, and has been shortlisted for the UEA New Forms Award and Winchester Poetry Prize. Rachel works as an Education Officer at The Poetry Society, where she manages the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award.
