Barbican Box 2021
In 2021 we partnered with Harlow Playhouse, HOME in Manchester and PEACH West Norfolk to deliver Barbican Box projects exploring poetry, creative gift giving and school wellbeing.
About Barbican Box
The Barbican Box is a physical box and learning resource that had 8 objects placed inside and are used as tools and inspiration, to empower teachers and their students to create new music.
The objects were chosen by artists from the Contemporary Music Programme who were asked the question ‘If you were to choose one object that has empowered your artistic practice what would it be and why?’
Emmy the Great, Zara McFarlene, Hannah Peel, Vashti Bunyan, Chris Illingworth, Shirley Colins, Ruby Turner, and Matthew Deighton each placed an object inside a beautiful physical box designed by Faith Austin, supported by a learning resource written by Detta Danford. Teachers have since worked with musician Detta Danford to explore the box and resources.
