Cooper Raiff and Dakota Johnson look at each other in front of a doorway

Party-starter Andrew (actor/director Cooper Raiff) is 22 and unsure of the future. But a path might open itself up in the forms of Domino (Dakota Johnson) and her daughter Lola (Vanessa Burghardt).

Andrew is smart and reasonably charming, but he’s a little stuck: when he’s not manning the counter of Meat Sticks, he’s getting the dance floor moving at various Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. His parents (played by Lesley Mann and Brad Garrett), and nice and supportive. But something remains missing.

Domino (Johnson) and Lola (autistic actor Burghardt, making her debut) are at something of a crossroads of their own, alongside fiancé Joseph (Raúl Castillo). A little lonely and looking for connection, Andrew’s enthusiasm is an easy balm for the pair. Yet, rather than waste time on will-they-won’t-they, the film uses this slightly out-of-sync relationships for further exploration. It’s beautiful acted, with a sincere emotional core.

‘There's a genuine sense of longing in the film - not just for romance but, in Domino's case, the freer approach to life that Andrew represents. ‘
