Join a discussion centred around legendary musician Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, hosted by his son and fellow sarod artist, Alam Khan. Look back into the history of Indian classical music as he guides us through the archives of the famous Ali Akbar College of Music (AACM).
Ali Akbar Khan’s father, the late Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan, is one of the greatest figures in North Indian music of the 20th century. Their family traces its gharana (ancestral school of music) from Mian Tansen, a 16th century musical genius and court musician of Emperor Akbar; through to Mohammed Wazir Khan, court musician of Rampur State and Baba Allauddin Khan’s guru.
Alam has dedicated his life to preserving, performing and teaching this music. Catch his concert on Saturday 23 October at 6.30pm as part of the Darbar Festival.
