Daphne (15)

Film still from Daphne

A young woman experiences a personal crisis and awakening after witnessing a random of act of violence, in this new British drama with an outstanding performance from Emily Beecham.

31-year-old singleton Daphne (Beecham) is fiercely independent with a laissez-faire attitude, but she is also somewhat isolated and often spotted walking around lost in her own thoughts.

After a night out, Daphne heads for an all-night off licence to buy cigarettes, but it is here where she witnesses a stabbing at the store. At first she is seemingly unaffected by the incident, but cracks begin to form and Daphne soon starts to head towards a downwards spiral.

A raw fiction debut from director Peter Mackie Burns. Co-starring Geraldine James and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.
