How Do We Build a New Masculinity? Panel Discussion with Radio 3 Free Thinking

Is the old construct of masculinity in our culture broken? As new ideas and thinking enter the debate, we consider what is essential and what we can do away with as we look to build a new masculinity.

This panel discussion looks at how rigid perceptions of masculinity have begun to shift in the recent past; and how new thinking around queerness, disability, and cultural exchange could be incorporated into a new-look masculinity.

The evening will feature contributions from artist and photographer Sunil Gupta, authors CN Lester (Trans Like Me) and Tom Shakespeare (The Sexual Politics of Disability), and Barbican curator Alona Pardo. The debate will be hosted and chaired by BBC Radio 3’s Matthew Sweet.

This event is programmed to coincide with our major spring exhibition Masculinities: Liberation through Photography.
