Le Poème Harmonique: Allegri's Miserere

Ensemble La Poeme Harmonique on stage

Become immersed in the sounds of a different world with French ensemble Le Poème Harmonique, exploring the mystical, ceremonial energy at the heart of music from the Counter Reformation.

Counting historical instruments such as the theorbo and the lirone among their ranks, Le Poème Harmonique teases out the atmospheric and strange from even the most familiar of repertoire. This programme, which includes Allegri’s famous Miserere mei Deus, brings together works that were transformed from profane settings to the spiritual when rewritten and reinterpreted by the poets of the day.

Since its founding in 1998 by Vincent Dumestre, Le Poème Harmonique has brought together passionate musicians devoted to historical interpretation of music from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
