London Symphony Orchestra: Half Six Fix – Vaughan Williams

with Sir Antonio Pappano

Audience members talking to each other at a Half Six Fix concert.

Kick-start your evening with a Half Six Fix concert. One piece in a 60-minute concert, introduced by the performers, with screens in the hall to bring you closer to the action.

Ralph Vaughan Williams’ First Symphony is his most immense and is appropriately awestruck by the power of nature right from the opening phrase: ‘Behold – the sea itself!’. Walt Whitman’s poetry and Vaughan Williams’ surging orchestration depict the sea in all its variety, strength, and beauty.

Sir Antonio Pappano and the LSO are joined by two brilliant soloists, with a mighty contribution from the London Symphony Chorus, who sing nearly throughout this magnificent work.

This performance will end at approximately 7.45pm (timings subject to change). Please note there will be no interval.
