Sunwook Kim plays Beethoven

Chamber Orchestra of Europe

Sunwook Kim

Pianist Sunwook Kim multi-tasks with the high octane Chamber Orchestra of Europe in a concert featuring Beethoven's Piano Concertos 3 and 4.

C minor turbulence doesn’t just colour Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 3. It also informs his Pathétique Sonata – the inspiration behind Anna Clyne’s Stride which shadows it with breezy tongue-in-cheek aplomb before Beethoven returns, this time serene, sometimes confrontational, and ultimately impish.

‘Vibrant, subtle and personable’ (The Guardian), Sunwook Kim established his credentials back in 2006 when he secured first prize as the youngest winner of the Leeds Piano Competition. Currently Music Director of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic, he pursues a busy dual career as both pianist and conductor and combines the two roles tonight at the head of an orchestra The Financial Time argues ‘deserves to be renamed The Best Orchestra in Europe’.

The end time for this concert will be added here closer to the performance date
