Barbican Community Choir

With Abdul Shyllon and Rachel Huggins

Two headshots: One person in a purple scarf sits in front of a tree and poses for the camera and another person in a suit stands in front of a red background.

Do you enjoy singing? Would you like to share the joy and enrichment of singing with others? Join our new community choir that comes together every week on a Thursday evening.

Over the course of 10 weeks, learn to sing a range of musical styles, including fresh reworkings of pop, soul, gospel, reggae, house and classical music, before sharing your work in front of an audience at an end of term performance.

The Barbican Community Choir is a new initiative that's led by Rachel Huggins, singer, songwriter and two-time finalist in the BBC’s Gospel Choir of the Year competition, and Abdul Shyllon, a singer, songwriter and composer whose work spans across, music, film, and theatre.

Age guidance: 16+

Timetable
Choir sessions take place between 6pm and 9.30pm every Thursday between Thu 13 Feb and Thu 24 Apr. To get the most out of this experience, choir singers are encouraged to attend regularly. Choir singers will be asked to perform as part of an end term performance in the Level G Foyer on Thu 1 May at 6.30pm.

This event is part of Spring at the Barbican: Concrete Garden, a series of events inviting you to retreat from the noise of the city with a season of growth and transformation.
