The Conversation (12A) 4K Restoration

From Francis Ford Coppola, this 1974 neo-noir mystery thriller follows a surveillance expert who discovers a potential murder from his recordings.

A new 4K restoration to mark the 50th anniversary of Francis Ford Coppola's seminal neo-noir.

Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) is a surveillance expert living in San Francisco, and specialises in wiretapping. He is hired by a private client who introduces himself as 'the Director', to listen in on a couple as they walk through Union Square. When Harry hears something about 'murder', things get a bit more complicated.

On this new 4K restoration to mark the film's 50th anniversary, Coppola says: "[this] is a film I have always been proud of, I've never felt the need to improve. It also features my wonderful collaboration with its editor (along with Richard Chew) and sound designer, Walter Murch which reinforces my belief that cinema is a collaborative effort. I am gratified to have made a film that has lived for 50 years."
