Piano Day 2024

Piano Day 2023

Demonstrating the incredible diversity and malleability of the piano, our Piano Day takeover is back on level G, with an afternoon of free performances from a selection of talented pianists.

Founded in 2015 by Nils Frahm, Piano Day is an annual worldwide event to raise the profile of the piano, inspire more people to play the piano and encourage piano playing in public spaces. Piano Day takes place on the 88th day of the year, celebrating the number of keys on the instrument.

Performances will include music from well-known Film & TV scores  including: True Detective: Night Country (HBO), The Buccaneers (Apple TV+), Living (starring Bill Nighy), Only You (starring Laia Costa and Josh O’Connor), Keeping Faith (BBC), I May Destroy You (BBC) and the John Lewis Christmas ad She’s Always A Woman

This event takes place from 5-7pm and is free and welcome to all.

Stage times are approximate and subject to change.

‘Why does the world need a Piano Day? Because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.‘
