This darkly hilarious farce is expertly crafted with the distinct visual aesthetic we’ve come to know and love from Wes Anderson, featuring a positively sparkling Ralph Fiennes on spectacular form.

Concierge M. Gustave (Ralph Fiennes) watches over the Grand Budapest hotel with total dedication and immense care. After longstanding hotel guest Madame D (Tilda Swinton) returns to her home, she suffers a mysterious and terrible fate. As a result, M. Gustave and his new lobby boy (Tony Revolori) become embroiled in a plot which could prove fatal to them both.

Anderson’s characteristic use of symmetrical framing and striking colour palettes will look spectacular against the backdrop of our iconic Barbican architecture. It’s been 10 years since this gem was released in the UK and we can’t think of a better way to open our 2024 Outdoor Cinema Series.

The ensemble cast is as starry as you’d expect, but it’s Fiennes who truly steals the show. With incredibly precise comedic timing and absolutely flawless delivery, Fiennes is an utter delight.
