Blitz (12A) (AD)

Academy Award Winning writer/director Steve McQueen is back with this historical drama following a young boy as he tries to make his way back to his mother through London during World War II.

9-year-old George (Elliott Heffernan) lives with his mum Rita (Saoirse Ronan) and Grandad (Paul Weller) in East London. At the height of the Blitz, Rita makes the heart-wrenching decision to send George to safety in the English countryside. However, George cannot bear the separation and escapes, finding himself on a journey across London. He meets strangers along the way, including kind night warden Ife (Benjamin Clementine) and a gang of thieves led by Albert (Stephen Graham) and Beryl (Kathy Burke).

Blitz portrays a vibrant and diverse World War II London as we’ve rarely seen before onscreen. As George makes his way across London, his adventures begin to impact his views on race and how he sees himself and his place in the world.
