Two women sit on a boat

Aga is adopting her teenage brother after their mother’s death, inviting intense probing into her life. But there’s something she can’t share: her girlfriend Maja.

In their conservative Polish village Aga must keep her long-term relationship with Maja hidden from friends and family, and now the social workers, for fear of losing Milosz. 

Silent Love counters the traditional family social norms to which Milosz is subjected at school, and the personal questions of the court where Aga must make a good impression, with tender images of a relationship freely lived away from prying eyes

A coming-of-age and a coming-out story about embracing new roles and redefining old ones, this film delicately captures the trio's discreet struggle as they begin to live as a family in a country where LGBT rights have been eroded.
