This exhibition reveals the close affinity between the ceramicist, Jo Pethybridge, and mixed media artist, Margaret Thompson, both being inspired by the creative “liberation” that colour evokes.
Their constantly evolving work explores the spaces between abstraction and representation, painting seascapes, landscapes and “mindscapes” often with a mysterious quality to them, sometimes images of peaceful contemplation, or, just as likely, turmoil and conflict. Sometimes these themes may be embedded in forms that are, by turns, geometric, biomorphic, architectural and with eye-catching colour. They have exhibited in many London galleries, and this is the third time at the Barbican Library, a favourite of theirs. Please note that the library is closed on Sundays.
