Shirley Collins & the Lodestar Band

Live from the Barbican

The influential English folksinger debuts her brilliant new record Heart’s Ease, alongside classic songs from her back catalogue.

Shirley Collins’s voice reflects the rich heritage of folk music, spinning stories of ocean voyages, pastoral life and ancient folk tales – traditional songs of rural England. Collins performs with her six-piece Lodestar Band, with arrangements by music-director Ian Kearey. This is a special performance to celebrate Heart’s Ease and is the new record's first live performance.

A key figure in the folk revival movement of the 60s and 70s, instrumental in researching and archiving folk songs that may otherwise have been lost to history. Retiring early from music after the loss of her singing voice, she's staged a comeback in recent years, regaining her former power as an artist.

The  livestream will be followed by a short film, Crowlink 0.5. featuring music, folk song, spoken word and original poetry inspired by rural Sussex.

This performance is subject to government guidelines.

Under new guidelines, we’ve fewer available seats in our venues and thoroughly clean between performances. Two households can sit together (subject to review), and we ask you to not swap seats so we can maintain a safe distance between you and other groups.

Livestream tickets will be available to watch back until Tue 25 May at 8pm. You can buy a ticket up until this point.
