The effervescent mezzo and pianist/arranger Craig Terry ruminate on the pain of loneliness and the warmth and joy of human interaction in a heartfelt song recital very much for our time.
One of the world’s greatest opera singers takes an evening off from playing powerful heroines, scheming villains and tragic lovers for a much more personal and intimate performance – one that speaks keenly to our shared experiences of the past year and a half. By turns poignant, profound, introspective, and bursting with life, this programme born out of enforced solitude will truly come to life as we share the music together again, in what is sure to be an emotional evening.
As proved by the pair’s 2020 GRAMMY Award-winning collaboration Songplay, DiDonato’s versatility reaches far beyond the opera stage. So mixed in with the occasional aria there’s jazz, popular song, lieder and more, several of which are in brilliant new arrangements from Terry.
This performance will finish at approximately 9.30pm, including a 20 minute interval.
