Jörg Immendorff
The Rake's Progress
—
An exhibition of the highly regarded German artist Jörg Immendorff, whose most memorable works are those of the Café Deutschland series.
Inspired by Horgarth’s moralising tale about the rise and fall of Tom Rakewell, his spiritual and moral demise, financial collapse and ultimate descent into insanity, Immendorff drew parallels with his own life and experience as an artist, producing a dark and dramatic body of work which touches on the political, social and personal.
