Get closer to cinema's Love and Anarchy: The Films of Lina Wertmüller season with this special members' event.
Despite being the first woman to be nominated for the Best Director Oscar for her masterpiece Seven Beauties (1975), the remarkable films of Lina Wertmüller are barely known in the UK. In March, we are hosting a programme of some of her very best work.
Valerio Ruiz, Wertmüller's sometimes assistant director and right-hand man, will join us to discuss working with this unique master of cinema. He will also talk about his documentary Behind the White Glasses, his documentary about Wertmüller, clips of which will be shown during the event.
This focus on Lina Wertmüller is the first instalment of Hidden Figures, a new strand celebrating filmmakers who have been unjustly neglected in cinema history.
This event is open to Barbican Members only.
