Minimalist Dream House

with special guest Thom Yorke

Katia & Marielle Labaque, Bryce Dessner and David Chalmin with a laptop

Sisters and acclaimed pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque are joined by Bryce Dessner, David Chalmin and special guest Thom Yorke as they perform premieres and recent Minimalist works.

The Labèque sisters have had a long-standing fascination with Minimalism – featuring both pioneers and current torchbearers of the genre on their 2013 album, also entitled Minimalist Dream House. They continue their minimalist exploration here, once again drawing a line between the past and present with a programme that features work by the likes of Max Richter, David Lang, Timo Andres, Caroline Shaw, Dessner and Chalmin.

In the second half of the concert Thom Yorke joins for the UK premiere of his new composition, Don’t Fear The Light. This work for two pianos, electronics and modular synthesizer, is Yorke’s first composition for classical music artists and concert halls. The concert will close with a performance of a new song by Yorke sung by him accompanied by the Labèques.

Start time: 7.30pm

First hall: 50 minutes

Second half: 35 minutes
