Moomins and the Winter Wonderland (U*) + introduction by So Mayer from Club des Femmes
Framed Film Festival 2018
Join us for a special screening of the Moomins' latest adventure and hear from So Mayer about how Tove Jansson's own life in Finland's winter wonderland crops up in her fantastic stories.
Moomintroll awakes one night and decides not to take his traditional winter slumber, instead he explores the snowy land on a leisurely adventure, encountering many new things and learning much about his beloved valley.
Based on the much loved Tove Jansson adventures, the film has a wonderfully gentle and meditative tone, matched with flawless stop motion animation. This wintry tale is sure to get everyone in the mood for the festival season.
Featuring the voice talents of Alicia Vikander, Bill Skarsgård and Stellan Skarsgård.
So Mayer of Club des Femmes talks about the connections between the amazing adventures of the Moomins, and those of their creator, the writer and artist Tove Jansson, who lived in the winter wonderland of Finland and often based her globally-adored characters on people she knew and loved.
