Berlin’s historic Tempelhof Airport ceased operation in 2008, but the space is vast and has certainly not remained empty.
Officially designated an emergency refugee camp in 2015, Tempelhof Airport now houses those seeking asylum. We observe daily life inside the airport; from German visitors to the surrounding parkland, to 18-year-old Syrian refugee Ibrahim who lives temporarily inside.
We see great progress in Ibrahim's adjustment to life in Germany, but his frustrations are painted vividly by shots the austere airport building juxtaposes against his recollections of his beloved Syria.
This quiet, observational documentary gives a valuable insight into a community in transition, taking viewers into the heart of the airport and the minds of those living inside.
