Chris Thile and Brad Mehldau

Brad Mehldau briefly stops playing piano to admire Chris Thile's mandolin mastery

The seemingly disparate worlds of Jazz piano and Bluegrass mandolin come together in perfect harmony as Thile and Mehldau perform music from their recent collaborative record.

This will be the only UK concert from the unconventional duo, following the heralded release of their self-titled album on Nonesuch Records. Hailing from very different musical roots, the two have formed a playful rapport, where songs can subtly shift from Blues to Country and unexpected places in between.

Thile is a virtuosic mandolin player that has an enviable discography that belies his years, both as a solo artist and with his bands Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek. While Mehldau is widely recognised as one of the most influential Jazz pianists of his generation – known for his mastery of traditional Jazz techniques, but a refusal to be confined by them.
